Now - May 6th -- Cornhole Set Raffle for Relay for Life
Employees from Athens Parks and Recreation made a set of "Hope" cornhole boards with a purple ribbon.   The set will be given away Relay Night on May 6th.   Cost is $5.00 donation per ticket or 5 tickets for $20.00.   Tickets are available from any City of Athens Relay team member, at Athens City Hall 1806 Wilkinson Street Athens, AL or the City of Athens booth the night of Relay.

Athens-Limestone Visitors Center 100 North Beaty Street Athens, AL  
The Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association invites you to join them at the Athens-Limestone Visitors Center at 9:45am to choose one of four simultaneously-occurring historic walking tours offered.   Tours depart at 10:00am and should expect up to 2 hours of walking and tales.   For more information, please call: 256-232-5411

Downtown Athens, AL

Apr 30th -- Marbut Bend Earth Day Walk  
Marbut Bend Nature & Trail AL-99 West Limestone    Join TVA Natural Resource Management professional Damien Simbeck at 7:30AM for a tour of this beautiful nature area just west of the Elk River Bridge on Alabama Highway 99.    The trail is handicap accessible.   Wear comfortable shoes and bring your binoculars for this free event from Tennessee Valley Authority and Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful.

Dust of your lawn and camp chairs and get ready for the return of Singing on the Square to the Marion Street side of the Limestone County Courthouse in downtown Athens, AL this Friday, April 29th at 6:00PM.


The 2016 concert series is sponsored by Jimmy Smith Buick GMC and presented by Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association free to the public.   Most shows kick off at 6:00PM and go to 8:00PM.   Grab a to-go dinner and dine al fresco while you enjoy this year's variety of groups and music.


The 2016 schedule will be an irregular one, so grab your calendar and mark the dates and times below.

The rain location for the 2016 Singing on the Square will be at the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 511 17915 West Elm Street Athens, AL.  


The Vietnam Veterans Building is one block east of the Market Street and Elm Street intersection at the T-junction of Lucas Ferry Road.   The Vietnam Veterans Building is approximately 3.4 miles from the traffic light at Elm Street and U.S. Highway 31N.

Athens State Student Groups Sponsoring Earth and Arbor Day Festival


    ATHENS, Ala. - Athens State University’s Student Government Association, the Health and Sciences Career Club, TriBeta, Kappa Pi, Phi Theta Lambda Alumni Association, and the Art Club will join forces to sponsor Earth and Arbor Day Festival 2016.  The event will be held Saturday, April 23 from noon until 4 p.m. on Beasley Field of the Athens State campus.


     The Earth and Arbor Day Festival is the biggest event of the spring semester and will feature tree tours, music, food, face-painting, rock-climbing wall, slip-n-slide, bubble ball, games and much more. All events are free and open to the public. Families are welcome. 


    “Last year’s event was very well attended and this year’s will be a great chance to learn while having fun,” says Athens State Director of Student Activities Terry Stepp. “We look forward to seeing students, families from the community, and anyone who would like to spend a day on our historic campus.”

    The Earth and Arbor Day Festival is the last student event of the academic year. It also gives Athens State graduating seniors a fantastic send-off. Call 256-233-8241 for more information.
