The dust will fly and the engines will roar during the Alabama Championship Tractor and Truck Pull will rev up the fun June 29th and 30th at Tanner High School 12060 Sommers Road in Athens, Alabama at 7:00PM both nights. This annual event held by the Tanner Quarterback club benefiting Tanner Athletics Program brings an estimated 6,000 people each night to Tanner, AL and the Limestone County community.
This highly heralded Mid-South pulling event is one of Limestone County's largest agritourism event. It's origins can be traced back to the 1970's when Shirley Haney and Johnny Malone returned from a pull in Columbia, TN. They put together this Tanner cornerstone event following the devastation of the 1974 Tornado Super Outbreak that tore through the community with intentions of boosting the athletics program of Tanner School.
Celebrating 40 years this year, the event has raised more than $1.5 million dollars. The Tanner Quarterback Club and Tanner School athletics programs have worked together to expand sports fields and associated services for their student athletes. Their hardwork and dedication has allowed for the purchase of seven acres to construct two youth sports fields. Additionally, 20 acres have been purchased in the school's vicinity with discussions of expansion for future sports fields. The Tanner Quarterback Club has also use the funds to light the baseball and football fields and construct a baseball diamond.
Tickets for the Alabama Championship Tractor and Truck Pull will be sold at the gate each night and are $15.00 for adults; $10.00 for children 7 & up; and children 6 & under are free. Food and beverage concessions will be available during the pull. Ear plugs are suggested, as these professional trucks and tractors can be extremely loud.
